2015 marks the 500th year since Cardinal Wolsey began to build Hampton Court (pictured) on the banks of the Thames. It is a place where English history was made, where, for example, Henry VIII honeymooned, Jane Seymour died and Charles I was imprisoned. Shakespeare performed here, Handel played and Jerome K Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat got lost in the maze.
To mark the occasion, there will be special events, displays and activities for all the family, with costumed kings, queens and courtiers in the courtyards and gardens from Easter.
