This classic recipe combines fresh cranberries, orange zest, and Cointreau for a tangy cranberry sauce you'll want to dollop on everything from roast turkey to canapés and baked ham to Boxing Day sandwiches.
It's ready in just 30 minutes, but if you want to prepare ahead of time, then we've also included advice on freezing and defrosting the sauce ahead of the big day.
Step 1Put all the ingredients into a medium pan. Bring to boil, then simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10-15min, until most of the berries have burst and the liquid has thickened slightly. Empty into a heatproof serving bowl and cool completely – the sauce will thicken further on cooling.
Step 2Chill until needed. Serve.
Get ahead
Make, cover and chill up to 3 days ahead, or freeze in a sealed container for up to 1 month. To serve, thaw sauce in fridge (if frozen).
