Ingredients

kg Bramley apples, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
150g
light soft brown sugar
150g
fresh white breadcrumbs
100g
dark chocolate, roughly chopped
100g
butter, melted
3Tbsp.
golden syrup
Directions
Step 1Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) mark 4. Mix apples, 50g of the sugar and 2tbsp water into a 1.8 litre ovenproof serving dish. Bake for 40min, or until apples have started to soften, then mash them roughly with a fork.
Step 2Mix remaining sugar with the breadcrumbs, chocolate, butter, golden syrup and 1/2tsp fine salt. Spoon on top of the mashed apples. Return to oven for 20min, or until golden brown. Serve with custard or cream.
