As many know, Sterling K. Brown is nominated at this year's Emmys for an Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series award for his work on Paradise. But ahead of the star-studded ceremony, Sterling went on Instagram to share some news with his fans.

In a video the This Is Us alum shared on September 9, Sterling revealed he teared his Achilles tendon. While Sterling assured folks that everything will be all right, he did share that he needs to get surgery. What's more, he noted he chose to put off the procedure until after the Emmys for a sweet reason.

"The recovery can take a little bit of time, doing something athletic as I am prone to do," he said in the video. "[I] gotta have surgery. Gonna do it after the Emmys, so I can motivate myself and go and try to celebrate with my cast and the producers of Paradise, because we got recognized, and it would be nice to be out there."

As soon as the news broke about Sterling's injury, celebrities immediately took to the comments to share their support.

"Ouch!!!! You got this!!! Get well soon," Terry Crews wrote. "BISCUITS!! Sending you love and healing energy, Bruv," Chrissy Metz penned. "Brother … I understand. You’ll be back. Rest well," Viola Davis added.

Additionally, Sterling's fans made sure to rally around him and send well wishes for his recovery.

"Sending healing energy your way," one person noted. "May you heal COMPLETELY, and not just swiftly," another wished him. "Prayers for a successful surgery and full restoration," a different follower replied.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine's official website, the Achilles tendon is a "strong fibrous cord in the lower leg" that helps connect muscles running from the calf to the heel. With it being the largest tendon in the body, it helps a person do things like walk, run and jump.

As for what happens after getting surgery to repair the Achilles tendon, the site notes the patient should keep their leg elevated to avoid pain and swelling. Along with that, the injured party may have to wear a boot during recovery, along with going to physical therapy to help with speeding up the process.
